Same here, i loved that formation, it was so subtle and sensitive, and then it just vanished. I agree. It was strange that there wasn't more discussion about it. Could it be something to do with the nature of linseed, do you think? But no, that doesn't seem very likely.

Did Doozles interpret your a) why and b) why accurately, Justme? It's how I read them, too.

Hi D perhaps the simplicty of this circle threw us off. we did get pretty spoiled last year by some of the huge formations. thanks for reminding us of this 1 ...

That is ridiculous, Justme! You'd need one of those One-Pill-Makes-Me-Smaller gismos before you'd derive any benefit...

I ask the same questions. I see. I feel, as with of any art form, a meaningful appreciation requires an identity of both authorship and provenance. Without these the facts behind its creation and purpose remain obscure and contentious. It is one thing to witness the plain fact of a circle's sudden existence; but this in itself does not convey or reveal any of the many other hidden facts that must surround its creation. Without these its authorship and provenance remain hidden. And without evidence of those there can be no credible explanation of its meaning and purpose. This seems a strange outcome for an art form, often of immense scale and compelling technique. It cannot be credible to be content to look upon an elaborate crop circle, only to say (for want of its provenance and authorship) "That is an impressive creation, but one whose technical mastery is matched only by its complete artistic insignificance". Such credentials have a marked effect upon the reception (and reception history) of any piece of art. It is no different for crop circles.
